Laura Garcia Cancino is a Senior Legal Researcher at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), a joint applied research center of Columbia Law School and Columbia Climate School that works to strengthen the sustainable development potential of international investment and to ensure that international investment is mutually beneficial for investors and the citizens of recipient countries. ​At CCSI, Laura focuses on leveraging law and metrics to address climate change and decarbonization challenges and accelerate the energy transition. Her expertise encompasses the governance and decarbonization of mineral supply chains ​and industrial decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors​. Laura is a lawyer from Universidad del Rosario in Colombia with a Master's degree in International Energy from Sciences Po University and an LL.M. in Energy and Environmental Law from Georgetown Law Center. Additionally, she has a specialization in Energy & Mining Law and Sustainable Development from Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia. Prior to joining CCSI, she worked at the International Energy Agency and held positions as in-house counsel at an oil & gas company and as an associate in the Energy, Mining, and Infrastructure team at a​ multinational law firm.
